Sam and her beautiful baby Amali
“It was after this session that I realised just how incredible Katrina’s skills were not only in Calmbirth and Spinning Babies in labour, but now with pelvic release work too!”
I have been a work colleague of Katrina’s for 10 years as a midwife. Through these years, I’ve witnessed her encouraging, calm, skilful nature with the women & families she cares for. There have been many occasions where I have called upon her knowledge and skills to help the women in my care with various spinning babies’ positions. She is a wealth of knowledge and often the difference!
During my third pregnancy, I had diastasis recti (abdominal muscle separation) which caused me a fair bit of discomfort. I knew it was my time to have Katrina work her magic on me! On my first day of maternity leave at about 36 weeks I saw her for pelvic release work.
It was after this session that I realised just how incredible Katrina’s skills were not only in Calmbirth and Spinning Babies in labour, but now with pelvic release work too!
I have described the feeling of the External Pelvic Release work to others as a mix between physio and a massage, targeting the pelvic area. Katrina helped me relax into it and continually made sure I was okay. My body felt such a huge difference afterwards! I haven’t stopped singing her praises since & recommending pelvic release work to pregnant women and to other midwives for the women in their care!
I was lucky enough to have Katrina as one of my midwives for my birth. In the throes of active labour, she did a manoeuvre to help baby’s head to drop in behind my pelvic brim. This was exactly what we needed, baby’s head finally came down and I was pushing with the next contraction and not long after had an unmedicated vaginal birth of our 4.3kg girl!
I am really looking forward to seeing Katrina postnatally for some more pelvic release work. It has felt good to be looking after my body in this way. The pelvic release work is a unique skill that I wish more midwives possessed & Katrina’s knowledge of the pelvis is phenomenal. She is so nurturing in her nature. You are literally in such good hands with Katrina.
