Pelvic Peace
about pelvic release work
Just as in life we find peace when there is balance with stress and tension relieved, everything is in its place and function is optimal, this is true for our body and mind, especially for women, in their nurturing core - the pelvis.
A pelvic release appointment is a 2-hour education and hands-on session that includes:
A discussion on pelvic anatomy to support a woman’s knowledge of her pelvic space, pelvic bones and pelvic soft tissues.
An exploration and gentle release of tension in the soft tissue connections – ligaments, muscles, fascia – felt through the back wall of the vagina.
Guidance with ‘how to continue with self-care and further release work by the woman or with her partner’s support.
Sharing other modes of releasing tension - for example: bum jiggling and other techniques that cultivate balance within the pelvis and womb.
why do it?
The body’s organs are supported by soft tissue connections. The Pelvis is not only the bony structure that envelops the precious reproductive organs of women but it also houses a multitude of complimentary tissues - ligaments, fascia and muscles that support the womb (along with the cervix, vagina and neighbouring organs – the bladder and bowel).
The intention of the fibres is to hold the organs in a balanced, suspensory fashion and enable the extraordinary capacity for change within the pelvis most evident in pregnancy. It is important to acknowledge that soft tissues, like any other area of the body, can harbour tension. This tension can be either conscious or unconscious and may result from injuries, postural habits, trauma, surgeries, hobbies, sports, or lifestyle choices. Consequently, such tension can limit movement, flow, expansion, and the spatial arrangement of bones and organs.
Soft tissue tension often unconsciously retains memories and emotions. As my mentor Fiona Hallinan aptly states, we can hold “issues in the tissues.” By accessing the tissues and giving them permission to sigh once again during an Internal pelvic release session, that is identifying and inviting them to release with a tender and gentle but purposeful touch.
FAQs

The vagina is a stretchable tube and has an amazing ability to transform. Often women are only aware of the vaginal examinations that serve purpose to assess the cervix in labour or for Pap smears which is predominantly the top wall. However, the vagina has a back wall too that allows the contact with the soft tissue connections that stabilise the bones and the organs. It is through this back wall that enables the use of tender touch and directed breathing to free the tension held in the tissues (ligaments, muscles and fascia) .

It is crucial for women to learn about their pelvic health. Understanding the womb, cervix, vagina, and pelvis empowers women. A session is beneficial for those preparing for birth or recovering postpartum, helping achieve anatomical potential through body preparation and healing. If you have pelvic pain, a session may help. Pain causes tension, which leads to more pain.
The connective tissues in the pelvis can be softened to support flow and drainage. A session is suitable if you have a prolapse or drooping pelvic organs like the bladder, bowel, or cervix. Pelvic organ prolapse significantly impacts women of all ages, including those who are fertile, peri-menopausal, menopausal, and post-menopausal. Pelvic Release Work can enhance cervical ligaments and pelvic muscles, and ease tissue tension that may affect their function.
A session is right for all women!

It is preferable to have a session when you are not bleeding. Many women feel too vulnerable or tender during the bleeding phase. However, there are times when sessions go ahead for various reasons when bleeding is light or at the ‘tail end’ of a bleed.

The release work is gentle but deliberate. The touch pressure will align with your preferences, and your feedback will be continually sought during the session. The sensations are ‘weird’. We’re not working through skin and hair and fat like external bodywork. We’re working more directly through the generous back wall of the vagina. Some fibres melt and soften with ease; others need more time and holding. Nothing is forced.
